Fun Things to Do Near UCLA & Westwood This Weekend

Westwood and the UCLA area have way more going on than people give them credit for. Whether you're a student, a local, or just visiting the Westside, here are some of the best things to do near UCLA this weekend.
1. Puppy Yoga at Puppy & Flow
This one's our favorite (obviously). Every Saturday and Sunday, Puppy & Flow hosts puppy yoga classes right in Westwood. You do yoga. Puppies climb on you. It's a full hour of guided yoga with rescue puppies running around. Classes are $55 and sell out fast — book here.
It's genuinely one of the most unique things you can do near UCLA, and it's become a go-to for birthday celebrations, friend hangouts, and even date days.
2. Explore Westwood Village
Westwood Village is a walkable neighborhood right next to campus with local restaurants, coffee shops, and the historic Westwood Village Theater (the one with the giant tower). Grab a coffee at Espresso Profeta or try the Persian food on Westwood Blvd — it's some of the best in the city.
3. The Hammer Museum
Free admission, always. The Hammer Museum on Wilshire has rotating contemporary art exhibitions, film screenings, and public programs. It's one of the best free museums in LA and it's right at the edge of Westwood.
4. Hike at the Getty Center
Take the 405 north for five minutes and you're at the Getty Center. The gardens are stunning, the architecture is iconic, and the views of LA from the hilltop are unbeatable. Also free (just pay for parking).
5. Walk the UCLA Sculpture Garden
The Franklin D. Murphy Sculpture Garden on the UCLA campus is an underrated outdoor gem. Seventy sculptures spread across a grassy, tree-lined park — free and open anytime.
6. Food Tour Down Sawtelle Blvd
Sawtelle Japantown is just south of campus. Ramen, tsukemen, boba, mochi donuts, matcha — you name it. It's a 10-minute walk from Westwood and one of the best food streets on the Westside.
7. Catch a Sunset at the Bel Air Reservoir
A short drive up into Bel Air, the Stone Canyon Reservoir trail gives you a quick, easy loop with views and a golden-hour atmosphere that feels very un-LA.
Plan Your Weekend
Most of these are walkable or a short drive from each other. Our suggestion: start the morning with puppy yoga, grab lunch on Sawtelle, and hit the Hammer or Getty in the afternoon. That's a pretty perfect Westside Saturday.
